Секоја година на 25 април, во Австралија и Нов Зеланд се
празнува Анзек деј. Овој ден е прогласен за државен празник во чест на
загинатите австралиски и новозеландски борци во Првата светска војна. По тој
повод се одржуваат комеморативна церемонија во раните утрински часови и почесен четири часовен марш по улиците. И оваа година не
изостана традционалниот марш во Мелбурн на кој зедоа учество илјадници
ветерани, нивни потомци и активен персонал. По улицата каде маршираа беа пропратени
со аплаузи од nad 35 000 посетители од сите возрасти. Оваа година се смета дека
посетеноста беше поголема за 10 000 луѓе како на церемонијата во раните
утрински часови (Dawn service) така и Маршот по улицата Ст. Килда до Споменикот на паднатите борци, Shrine.
Уште еднаш Мелбурнчани докажаа дека
се одлични организатори и достојно го одбележаја овој значаен датум од
австралиската историја. Слава им!

Anzac Day is a national day of remembrance in Australia and
New Zealand , originally commemorated by both countries on 25 April every year
to honour the members of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC)who
fought at Gallipoliin the Ottoman Empire during World War I. It now more
broadly commemorates all those who died and served in military operations for
their countries Anzac Day is also observed in the Cook Islands, Niue, Pitcairn
and Tonga It is no longer observed as a national holiday in Papua New Guinea
and Samoa
What does it mean today?
Australians recognise 25 April as an occasion of national
remembrance, which takes two forms. Commemorative services are held at dawn –
the time of the original landing – across the nation. Later in the day, ex-servicemen
and women meet to take part in marches through the major cities and in many
smaller centres. Commemorative ceremonies are more formal and are held at war
memorials around the country. In these ways, ANZAC Day is a time when
Australians reflect on the many different meanings of war.
