The key is respect, every culture brings its own energy and values, and if you understand and incorporate them authentically into your film work, success comes naturally. Working on international projects has broadened my vision and helped me progress and adapt. - Sime Mladenovski
Sime – Yes, I received two gold plaques at the Art Film Festival Niš for Sadness and Longing, films that speak to the heart.
We absolutely have original talents, directors, actors, screenwriters. We need more support and connections with international platforms, but the quality is there. We are living proof that with hard work you can reach America, Cannes, Berlin
The key is respect, every culture brings its own energy and values, and if you understand and incorporate them authentically into your film work, success comes naturally. Working on international projects has broadened my vision and helped me progress and adapt.
MT – Since when have you been interested in film art and what does it mean to you?
Sime - I have had a love for film since I was very young. I remember the days when everyone was waiting for a western film to start and maybe that prompted me to start experimenting with a camera and it is a wonderful energy that encompasses you and holds you for a very long time. Then I understood that this would be my life path and that I would be swayed by it my whole life and that special love to create and convey the destinies of a people on the screen is a great strength that not everyone can understand and accept.
I am happy when people look deeper. I do not give answers, I open questions. Film is a conversation, not a monologue. If someone hears the message, it means it was worth it.
MT – what specifically motivates and inspires you to delve deeply into the world of documentary film and how much does it mean for the general audience?
Sime - From my childhood, my grandparents, from the song my mother and father sang, from the smell of the earth, from the bread from the oven. All of that is part of me and when I film, I just share that wealth in the world with our customs, which are many, and of course the tradition that is very much included in our films.
Absolutely, the audience wants truth in a time when everything is filtered and varnished, the documentary is the voice that still believes in authenticity, it just needs to be said and the heart feels it.
Honestly? The look of the viewer after the screening, when someone approaches me and tells me I found myself, then I know that I have completed my mission. Awards are important, but human emotion is priceless.
They were born from the truth, from what people live every day, but rarely notice it. Grief is the silence of pain. Longing is the whisper of desire. Both are a mirror of our country with all its beauty, weight and dignity.
The Macedonian director and producer has once again proven his power to reach the world through strong emotional and true stories. With the documentaries Jad and Kopnez, he won two gold plaques and the jury consisting of Dragana Bojković, Elena Konstatinović, Igor Bojanić gave him sincere praise for the beautiful story and excellent photography, and above all praised the work of the director who was very careful to make the whole story fit into what he had imagined.
In the end, not everyone can understand the film and in fact it is simple, it is a story that flows and overflows onto the screen. Thank you for my support that has accompanied me for years and is a plus motive Zoki Goki Admir Daniel Mace Saše and special thanks to Ane, the excellent vocalist of the Dance Mashine group that was on and off in the 90s and was the frontman at that time and he made a beautiful video for his music group. Of course, thanks to Macedonian timeline who are a plus motive for my success and my work.
